An apartment from the 1930s in the old centre of Sofia overlooking rooftops and sculpted classical facades has been transformed into a comfortable home for a young financier.
The design approach is in line with the temperament and lifestyle of its owner. The Day zone is completely open and fluid. The new floor to ceiling windows of the cosy balcony create the feeling that the kitchen is hovering over the rooftops. The alternating open shelves and solid volumes of the bookcase, the backlit niches, the negative reveal of the ceiling, the fireplace and the lighting discretely sculpt the space. The balcony that has not happened over the years has been built and turned into a closet and home office. The client’s brief was that the apartment has to be charged with energy and contrasts. The starting points for the overall vision were: New York, boxing, the stock exchange and its symbol – the bull.
