The featured project is a showroom and an office for commercial design and exposition of mobile storage systems.
The design brief asked for a space that is at the same time attractive and comfortable for both end customers and commercial interior designers. It was supposed to present the multiple configurations of Mauser mobile storage system and the various represented office furniture companies. The showroom has a gross area of 220 sq. m. and its glazed storefront overlooks the busy traffic of Sofia ring road. A massive diagonal concrete beam divides visually and functionally the space. The storefront glazing continues as a skylight on one side of the beam. The predominant white color creates the allusion of a gallery space where the individual furniture pieces are exposed. The reception is the main visual accent. Two preexisting concrete columns are wrapped with industrial pallets thus creating a singular volume that acts as a light-colored wooden background for the graphite mass of the reception desk. Harmonica Corten Steel Lamp dramatically hangs above the reception – a custom steel sculptural piece member of the Harmonica family – a steel furniture line developed by studiopiperov for various projects. The interior finishes are mostly natural – white brick for wall cladding, polished local stone – Nanovitsa as a floor finish, corten steel with a rusty warm color for the reception lamp and the two sliding doors, the striped wooden slats of the pallets. The designers intentionally combine and juxtapose high-end German and Scandinavian office furniture with industrial materials and finishes. The acoustic is improved by the Caimi colorful panels applied on the wall above the entry zone sitting area and integrated in the light fixture above the conference table.
